GO WITH THE FLOW

"Follow your dreams, work hard and don't give up no matter what".

-Nicole Hayley

Hope u guys are enjoying reading my posts. What comes first into your mind when you think of water. For some people water is life, for some its calm. In a population of millions of people where there are almost no similar minds everyone have their own definition for "water". But when it comes to taking such a theme and working upon it and doodling your rough ideas and turning your concepts into action is little difficult but not impossible. When i participated in the competition there was no such thought of winning but some experiences are necessary in life to bring out  something better from you. So ultimately after lots of doodlings and ideas in my mind finally sketched this dress which hopefully got selected by the judges. I had designed this dress inspired by the theme " water". I was inspired by its physical aspects keeping in mind its certain characteristics. Water is stagnant sometimes so , i had kept the skirt straight fit along with pleats. I had kept the skirt asymmetric with one side solid plain skirt and the other side pleated and these pleats shows the rise and fall of the waves in the sea.As the waves rise, they certainly fall. And the top is designed inspired by a well known phrase in hindi,"Boond boond se banata hai sagar".So the pieces in the top were joined in shapes of waves.

: KALEIDOSCOPIC COLLECTION

This was my kaleidoscope inspired collection where i had designed this outfits inspired by the pattern of kaleidoscope as you can see in the first outfit. Kaleidoscope may be a kids toy but its beautiful patterns which it creates attracted me to choose such a concept and work upon it!

In the second  and third outfit, i had tried to show the structure and the shape of the kaleidoscope. The sleeves of the second garment shows that how the kaleidoscope would look when one would try to peep into it. The colours i have used are minimal and not too bright that it would directly strike the viewers eye.

This another range was also inspired by the structure, shape , colours, the blurred effect caused by the kaleidoscope, and the rotation of the kaleidoscope as seen in the second outfit.

KITSCH ART COLLECTION

  HOLA!

Hi guys this is my new post for my new collection. Before taking you to my journey for this collection let me guide you something about "INDIAN KITSCH ART". Indian kitsch art has unique motifs like the "old chai wala","Kathakali pose" etc.Kitsch art started as pop art with various designs one would call as cheap or ridiculous.Kitsch has unique ability to attract or repel one simultaneously.  This is my mood board for kitsch art . Kitsch art is basically something which is very tacky or has tacky motifs. Various cultural icons, truck graphics and other popular icons are used in kitsch art.The colours used are very bright. My this collection was based on more of Indian kitsch. This unique, eye catchy, flamboyant Indian kitsch art is catching pace and is one of the well known art.I was inspired by its motifs, the way they have been used and the bright colours used in it.

This is my final collection of outfits.

THE INDIAN TOUCH

Almost 3 months and here is the outcome. This was one of my handmade snakes and ladder game which i made using recycled fabrics and Indian embroidery. Beautiful stuff can be made out of recycled materials, just need to know , "what", "how" and "where" to use it.I tried to play with some of the basic stitches like slip stitch, chain stitch, couching , etc.along with the fabric. And the technique  used for it was "Applique".Hope you guys love it.

LUDO GAME

TIC TAC TOE GAME

This were the other awesome handmade games i made. In my childhood i used to play this game in the middle of our classes as we used to find the lectures too boring so we used to make boxes in the books and played "X" and "O". So this was an interesting idea according to me to make this game as you just need to place the pieces. I used the "mustache" and  "tie" concept which connects two kinds of people , one would be a gentleman wearing a tie and another is a villager with a mustache.Actually i just loved the concept of the "Tie" and the "moustache" so i used them and made it. What happens with me sometimes is that i go reverse of the process, the product turns out first and then i try to relate it with the concept.

TRUCK ART

We had a workshop for accessory design where we went through the whole process from concept building to the journey till the final product. So this was my theme for this project. So first of all let me tell you guys something about Truck art.

The truck art,an art form that makes journeys through dusty highways of India, incredible in typography and bright paints, motifs. These Indian trucks takes you on diverse cultures of our country.Truck art is something associated with "Kitsch art". It contains the graphics, motifs, colours and other elements used in truck.I took the truck art basically from India but let me tell you that the truck art of Pakistan is really beautiful and inspirational as the whole trucks are painted in bright colours with beautiful motifs and like a newly wedding bride. In India also you may get to see truck art in states like Punjab. The mirrors and doors of the truck are beautiful.

What i had tried to incorporate in my design is basically the bright coloured  motifs, typography like,"HORN PLEASE".So this was the mobile cover which i made and its hand painted. And the lemon mirchi you can see is i got from Haridwar when i was travelling and i saw it in the form of keychain so i bought it thinking that i would use it in some of my collection.
